Weekly Question: Extending Roleplay Outside of the Game

Inspired by: Over on Tumblr, some people are setting up in-character Twitters! It's a fun-looking project, so I thought I'd link it here.

Question: If you roleplay, where do you prefer to do it, and why? Do you prefer to interact with others inside the game? Do you make use of other places (like Twitter, Tumblr, or a DW-like blogging service) to extend your in-character time? What services do you prefer, and why?

I pretty much only rp in game. I have some people I could aim-rp with, but I'm kinda nervous about it. (Does not help that all my favorite characters to play are jerkfaces.)

I've never actually RPed in game, and it seems like a lot of pressure. Also, following the SWTOR tag on tumblr has convinced me that (some) RPing is SRS BSNS.

This said, an in-character twitter feed sounds pretty awesome.

I mostly play in game, or chat about vague concepts via e-mail or over Mumble. I don't really RP as much as I would like to, honestly.

I prefer longer updates and asynchronousness, so I prefer Google Docs or a forum or journal thread any day. In game RP scares me because it's short and realtime.

I get equally nervous about in game and chat RP; it's the realtime that bugs me. And yeah, characters who are non-sociable can be hard.

In my head. Because I am too shy. *says the person posting on dreamwidth and who does pen and paper roleplaying games* I didn't say it made sense.

Also my sadly neglected blog here. Juggling writing fan fic, working, and preparing to move to a larger apartment is not doing much for my blog-in-character thing. *sigh*

(If I could make heads or tails of Twitter, this would almost be tempting. Or, you know, if not for the inconsistent shyness thing...)

not nonsociable! Just very very darkside. I have one lightsider and I pretty much don't rp with him because he bores me. All my other characters are like 'hello, let's be friends, tell me all your secrets so I can blackmail you if you ever get in my way, that's totally what friends are for, yup.'
