Many of my guild members don't like Taris; the early memory bug did it no favors. But I love the planet for the same reasons you do -- it has so much history, and Bioware has been responsible for virtually all of that history, meaning it's a very consistent experience.
Well, except for a few small things. Like the Endar Spire apparently having footage of the Sith bombardment -- I guess it didn't immediately crash down to Taris? But I liked visiting the shipwreck, just like I enjoy the historied nature of the entire planet.
That said, I really wish I had a speeder for that planet from the get-go!
